Participatory Syndromic Surveillance System in Bangladesh
Enables Tracking the Spread of COVID-19 Symptoms Using
Communal Self-Screening Test Data
The purpose of the Coronavirus Self-Checker is to help general people make decisions about seeking
appropriate medical care. This system is not intended for the diagnosis or treatment of disease or
other
conditions, including COVID-19. But, this system can help to reduce the surge of medical help
seeking
patients with non-lethal symptoms.
Based on the obtained surveillance dataset, we update dashboard with appropriate data analytics
for
the
policy makers. The analytics includes statistics of the reported COVID-19 symptoms, additional
diseases
that
may cause comorbidity, and travel history reported by the test takers.
Location and mapping features are the key building blocks for this platform. This platform uses
google
maps, place API, reverse geocoding, place picker, map cluster, marker pointer and few others key
features.
Using Google maps API, we show the high risk users reported from the different parts of the country
to
identify the vulnerable areas in Bangladesh.
